We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming the Rev. Dr. Laura Hermakin as our new minister at the beginning of October. She (along with her husband Richard) have spent the last number of years in Invermere, BC where Laura has been the minister in an Ecumenical Shared Ministry of the Anglican and United Churches of Canada. She has sensed a distinct call to Esquimalt as the next step in her journey with the United Church.
In her own words, “I am equally committed to the Church at all levels. I love everything about the church (even in our difficult moments) and I cherish all I have received from it. I am very aware that I cannot do everything, and welcome the opportunity to share together in leadership in all areas of ministry. I can guarantee a commitment to caring for you in your times of joy and sorrow and will ask to receive the same kind of care and support for me and my family.”
By all indications they will fit right in with our happy and progressive congregation. We are looking forward to meeting Laura and Richard, and welcoming them (and their cats) to our corner of paradise.
UPDATE!!
It is now October, and Laura has begun her sojourn with us. Please feel free to stop by, introduce yourself, and make her feel welcome!
